Radiation Video part 2 (Behind Lead Doors)

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I started my LAST WEEK of radiation treatment today!!! Lots of Brain Cancer survivors have told us that radiation and surgery are the hardest parts of recovery (so getting through this is significant) and in our last weekly meeting today with my radiologist, Doctor Selch, (We actually call the meetings “The Selch Second” because they are always so short…he’s a busy man) he just asked me a few questions, examined the top of my head, then smiled and in a very genuine way told me, “It looks amazing! You have done extremely well! You’re remarkable!”. That (of course) was what we wanted (needed) to hear, considering that pretty much every single long term survivor that we’ve gotten to know in LA also had their radiation treatment with Selch (back in the 90’s mind you) and if he’s optimistic then that’s a really great sign for us. We also would like to thank Dr. Selch publicly for his devotion to treating this disease as well as all the therapists who have been doing such an amazing job treating Alex as well: Hussen, Cynthia, Maria, Farhad, James, Jesus, Phillip, and Nancy (and anyone else that might have filled in). They are world class people that do what they do because they want to make a difference in people’s lives in a real hands on way. They’ve also been so incredible with Alex that they have actually made putting on the Lecter mask and laying still on the cold table somewhat enjoyable for him, which has definitely helped give him the courage to fight this thing head on. Last Friday Alex found himself feeling curious again about the radiation process…this time though he really wanted to see how the therapists perform the actual treatment, so he gave his phone to Nancy and she filmed a behind the scenes look of how they operate the treatment. So without further ado, we present to you, “Radiation Video Part 2: (Behind Lead Doors)”, the sequel to the original radiation video Alex posted. Like all sequels Alex did his best to go bigger and better than the original with this one, but we’re sure we’ll still get a lot of haters that will write things like “I like the first one wayyyyy better. Why do sequels always suck? They’re just trying to cash in on the success of the first one because they don’t have any originality anymore!” etc. Alex edited the video and it stars Hussen, Maria (Alex told them they better find themselves an agent), and this dude Alex who “…is like totally the next big thing!”, and (again) it was graciously filmed by Nancy. It also features music by Miike Snow.

Rejoicing,
Alex and Amy
